BaroogaPostcode: 3644 Barooga is a border town in the Riverina region of New South Wales, situated just north of the Murray River which forms the border with Victoria. It is located in the Berrigan Shire Council Local Government Area. At the 2001 census, Barooga had a population of 1,025.
Barooga is a mainly residential area and most of its commercial and industrial needs are met in its twin town of Cobram, located on the other side of the Murray River.
Being only three hours drive from Melbourne, Barooga is a popular holiday destination because it offers two registered clubs, a 36-hole golf course and river attractions and also a large Botanical Garden.
Barooga Public School caters for primary school students only. High School students must cross the river to Cobram. The school follows Victorian, rather than New South Wales school holidays.
Barooga has a Australian rules football team in the Murray Football League called the Barooga Hawks. Barooga has a cricket team in the Murray Valley Cricket Association. Other sports played include soccer, netball, tennis, golf and bowls. For more information about this town, click here |
