North TamworthPostcode: 2340 North Tamworth is a suburb of Tamworth, New South Wales, Australia, in the city's north. It is located on the northerly side of the Peel River between the suburbs of East Tamworth and Oxley Vale. North of North Tamworth are the satellite suburbs Forest Hills, and Moore Creek. The Tamworth Base Hospital, Tamara Private Hospital, the Tamworth Correctional Centre as well as Northgate Shopping Centre are all located in North Tamworth. As well as many sporting fields, and medical professionals' clinics.
North Tamworth traditionally was considered a lower middle-class socio-economic area of Tamworth but in the past ten years this has changed as now the area is considered a higher middle-class socio-economic area as land prices have increased. The reasoning being the suburb's locality near the Tamworth CBD, the Tamworth Base Hospital, Tamara Private Hospital, Retirement Villages and Oxley High School.
North Tamworth approximately beings on the westerly side of Darling Street and above the Main North railway line which runs above the CBD. East Tamworth begins on the easterly side of Darling st. The suburb continues along Peel St (the cities main street) westerly until it becomes Manilla Road where the suburb of Oxley Vale begins.
North Tamworth is the home to three of Tamworths football teams. The Tamworth Magpies rugby club play at Rugby Park. The North Tamworth Bears rugby league team also play in North Tamworth and are 2006 Group 4 Rugby League premiers.
