Waubra is a little town in Victoria, Australia, about 27 km north west of Ballarat.

Waubra was known as "Springs" until around 1888. The town was served by a Victorian Railways 5' 3" (1600mm) gauge branchline which opened in October 1888. In 1931, passenger services were withdrawn and the line continued as a "goods only" line through to its closure in January 1968.

About an hour’s drive north-west along the Sunraysia Highway from Ballarat, the small sheep country town of Waubra boasts two churches, a pub and a general store.

Because of its position, at certain times of the year the townfolk enjoy the sun rising over Mt Beackworth and setting behind the ominously named Mt Misery.

The area was settled midway through the 19th century and the privately-owned homestead on Mt Mitchell Station has recently been restored to its pioneering glory.

Waubra is within comfortable driving distance of celebrated regional wineries and a number of magnificent national and state parks lie within the boundaries of the host Pyrenees Shire. Those protected bushland reserves which are graced by waterfalls, lakes and old gold mine relics include Paddys Ranges, Mt Cole and Mt Buangor parks. Paddys Ranges State Park is at its best in spring when clusters of wildflowers carpet the fringes of some of the most accessible walking tracks.
