Westby is a rural community in the central east part of the Riverina. It is situated by road, about 9 kilometres south east from Pulletop and 18 kilometres north from Little Billabong.

Westby used to be the site of a railway station but the line has been closed since the mid-1950s.

In the late 1950s and early 1960s, children of Primary school age attended a one-teacher school at Westby conducted by the NSW Department of Education. Mr Donald Day was the teacher in 1961 and 1962, followed by Mr Tony Kingsford-Smith. The school was then closed because of falling enrolments.
