Annerley is a suburb of Brisbane, Australia located 6km south of the Brisbane CBD. It was named after a town in England.
Much of the suburb is elevated, lying on a ridge that gives views of the city. For many years it was a somewhat rundown suburb, particularly close to main roads, but with gentrification and the rise in the cost of housing, many of the original ‘Queenslanders’ have been restored to their former glory.
The suburb is of medium population density with many apartment blocks, guest houses and fast-food outlets. The major road in the suburb is Ipswich Road, one of Brisbane’s main southerly traffic arteries. There is a shopping precinct and library operated by the Brisbane City Council located at the junction of Ipswich and Annerley Roads. Until April 13 1969 the suburb was served by electric trams, which ran along Ipswich Road.
Annerley B&B Brisbane provides bed and breakfast accommodation for corporate travel, the sports enthusiast and the holiday visitor in a 140 year old historically significant Queenslander style home named ‘Ridge Haven’. Her warmth and style echo the ambience and decor of yesteryear, whilst her comfort and facilities are undeniably modern day.
‘Ridge Haven’ is located south of the Brisbane River, less than 10 minutes to Brisbane city centre, and even closer to the Brisbane Convention and Exhibition Centre South Brisbane, Southbank, Queensland Performing Arts Centre (QPAC), ‘Gabba’ Cricket Ground Woolloongabba, Mater Hospital, Princess Alexandra and Greenslopes Private Hospitals. Griffith University campuses at Nathan, Mt Gravatt and Southbank plus Queensland University campus at St Lucia are in close vicinity.
The South East Freeway on-ramps to the Gold Coast or the Sunshine Coast Highways are only minutes away.
We extend a warm welcome to previous guests of Carinya at Highgate Hill, Waverley at Paddington and Ascot House at Ascot. Sadly, these popular Brisbane B&B’s will no longer be offering accommodation to Brisbane visitors from early 2007. We assure you of a wonderful stay with us here at ‘Ridge Haven’.
