It runs the length of Carbrook and there are a number of recreational areas, parks, boat ramps and a jetty, that provide easy access to the river.

For 125 years the local school has played a staring role in the Life of Carbrook, and together with a number of century old farmhouses the near 100 year old original Carbrook Primary School building has enhanced the character of Carbrook.

An outstanding feature of the area is the Carbrook wetland which has been designated as an area of national importance in the Directory of Important Wetlands in Australia. The wetland attracts a variety of waterfowl and other marsh birds and is a bird watchers paradise.
