Dinmore

Postcode: 4303

Dinmore is a small residential suburb situated between Brisbane and Ipswitch in south-east Queensland. There are a number of major traffic corridors running through the suburb. Bisecting the suburb is Brisbane Road, the main Brisbane to Ipswich transport corridor.

The Warrego Highway forms the northern boundary of the suburb, while the Cunningham Highway runs through the southern section of the suburb. Existing industrial operations within 1-2 kilometres of residential homesinclude a hardboard factory, abattoir, and brickworks.

Development of a 300ha industrial park, the Bremer Business Park, on former open land to the west and north of Dinmore commenced in 2001. Over time the park is expected to attract a number of additional commercial and industrial businesses. Construction of the first new major facility to be established on the industrial park – a large aluminum extrusion plant – began in mid-2003.

Concerns regarding increased air pollutant emissions (particularly fine particles) and possible adverse health impacts associated with increased industrial activity have been raised bi Dinmore residents. The EPA was asked to undertake a study into airborne particle levels in Dinmore to assist in assessing the air quality impacts from adjacent industrial development.
