Kallangur QLD

Kallangur

Postcode: 4503

Set back from the Bruce Highway in the Pine Rivers Shire, Kallangur is ideally placed for forays to Brisbane’s northern beach resorts, Bribie Island, the Sunshine Coast and hinterland, and the big city.

To Kallangur’s west lie Lakes Kurwongba and Samsonvale. Both are part of the fresh water reservoir network servicing Brisbane and its surrounding areas. Samsonvale offers limited recreational use for anglers, sailors, and kayakers. Twitchers are drawn to Samsonvale because the lake is a sanctuary for a wide variety of birds, especially waders.

Tourist leader in the Kallangur region is the Alma Park Zoo and Tropical Park Gardens. Paths through the 18ha zoological and botanical park wander through avenues of palms, ferns, subtropical trees and eucalypts. The animal enclosures featuring grizzly bears, Malayan sun bears, camels, deer, leopard, monkeys and peacocks are scattered through the trees and plants.
