Molendinar is a small, mainly industrial suburb of the Gold Coast, Australia. The area was a Queensland State Government project supported by the Gold Coast City Council, with initial development beggining circa 1969.
Molendinar is becoming popular with first home buyers and leaving behind its shady past. The young set are finding Molendinar more affordable and yet it is still close to the CBD, major shopping centres, Gold Coast Hospital and many private schools. It is also home to the second largest daily newspaper in Australia the Gold Coast Bulletin
In 1969 the Gold Coast City Council began the first stage of commercial development of the Molendinar Industrial Estate. Since then, the suburb has become a centre for industry on the Gold Coast. Employment opportunities in this suburb are flourishing due to its industrial and commercial precinct.
