Noosa Heads QLD

Noosa Heads

Postcode: 4567

Noosa is a unique community on the Queensland coast about two hours drive north of the capital city, Brisbane. The area sits on the southern tip of the estuary of the Noosa River facing the ocean and is probably the nicest resort town on the Sunshine Coast.

The area includes Marcus Beach, Sunrise Beach, Sunshine Beach, and Noosa Heads — which comprises the communities of Little Cove (bordering on Noosa National Park), Hastings Street, Noosa Sound, Noosa Junction (shopping and commercial area) — and Noosa Hill with its extensive views of Laguna Bay and the river estuary. Nearby are great beaches, the rainforests, the river’s Everglades and Fraser Island.

Noosa has set a population cap of 50,000 people and a height limit on all buildings to ensure a high quality of life for its residents, unlike the sprawling high-rise development further south on the Sunshine Coast and Gold Coast.

However, with modern accommodation and facilities — while preserving its lush natural environment — Noosa does attract large numbers of short-term visitors each year. Most of the holiday accommodation is located in the main resort area. However, away from the coast are many other interesting places to stay while on holiday.

The bushland and its wildlife are easily accessible, as are fine dining establishments and top class fashion houses.

World famous Fraser Island is easily accessible. Local tour companies offer exciting day-tours by four-wheel-drive vehicles with experienced drivers taking visitors on ecologically informative adventures through ancient vegetation and wildlife on the world’s largest sand island.
