Walkamin is a town on the Atherton Tableland in Far North Queensland, Australia. It is located between Mareeba and Tolga.

Several exhibitors have already booked for the 2009 event – Walkamin Field Days are held every second year, alternating with Field Days held in Townsville by Rotary Clubs in that city.

Committee members from the Rotary Clubs of the Atherton Tablelands were just a little nervous about the outcome of this year’s Walkamin Field Days (held on May 30 and 31) – due to a change of venue following resumption of the previous site at the Lotus Glen prison Farm by the Department of Corrective Services.

The Inventors Contest attracted a record number of entries; World-record-holding chain-saw Ice Carver Rony Herrmann delighted patrons with his almost-instant ice statues – and, for the first time, a program of night-time live entertainment was included, and proved very popular.

Local and visiting artists appeared on the evening of the event’s first day – an after-hours attraction that kept the bar busy but had never been featured at the previous venue, due to an ‘early- closing’ requirement of Prison Farm management.
