Bagdad North TAS

Bagdad North

Located in the Central Highlands (Tas.) area of Tasmania, Bagdad North is in the West Coast local government area, and within the electoral seat of Lyons.

Bagdad is a small town within the Southern Midlands.

In the early days when the primary transportation was still horse and buggy, the town was an important rest area and horse-changing place for people who were going up to Constitution Hill.

Today, the area is used as orchards, small farms and a commuter settlement. Bagdad also boasts a modern well-equipped Community Club with a Golf Course, Sporting Oval and Hall.

Bagdad is 40 kilometres from the capital city of Hobart and can be reached within thirty minutes of travel via National Highway 1.

At the 2021 national census, the population of 7030 (Including Bagdad North) was 19720 people. Out of those, 9724 were male and 9996 were female.
