Located in the West Coast area of Tasmania, Barrington is in the West Coast local government area, and within the electoral seat of Lyons.

Barrington is a small rural community within Kentish in the North West region of Tasmania.

The main attraction of the area is Lake Barrington and the Dam. It provides the venue for recreational pursuits such as picnic, fishing, swimming, rowing, and waterskiing. For adventurous souls, you can try the rappelling activity going down the vertical dam wall.

Barrington is 279 kilometres from the capital city of Hobart and can be reached within three and a half hours of travel via National Highway 1.
