Located in the North East area of Tasmania, Bell Bay is in the West Tamar local government area, and within the electoral seat of Bass.

Bell Bay is an industrial area and port located on the eastern shore of the Tamar River. Located in northern Tasmania, just south of George Town.

Bell Bay is 249 kilometres from the capital city of Hobart and can be reached within three hours of travel via National Highway 1.
