When in town try the 3.4-km loop trail near Oldina, Tasmania. Generally considered a moderately challenging route, it takes an average of 1 h 14 min to complete. This trail is great for hiking, running, and walking, and it’s unlikely you’ll encounter many other people while exploring. A short but nice route that is perfect for a hike with the dogs as they are allowed off leash. The loop starts off heading down a steep road then runs along Tram Road that is beside Big Creek before heading up a steep clay based road. Most sections are along wide fire and access trails. The first section of the trail is lovely and shady but the last part is in the sun during warm weather so take enough water for you and the dogs.

Oldina is 357 kilometres from the capital city of Hobart and can be reached within four hours of travel time via National Highway 1.
