Pyengana

Located in the North East area of Tasmania, Pyengana is in the Dorset local government area, and within the electoral seat of Lyons.

The small village of Pyengana is located in the northeast approximately 27 kilometres away from St. Helens.

This rural farming region features breathtaking waterfalls and natural beauty. The picturesque region is worth exploring by car or foot. The St. Columba Falls State Reserve offers a beautiful hike through temperate rainforest and a view of a gorgeous 90 meter waterfall. The Blue Tier area also includes the Halls Falls walking track (90 minute return) where eucalyptus plants grow in abundance and will dazzle any nature lover. For history buffs check out the Anchor Stampers former mine site.

No visit to the village is complete without a visit to the Pyengana Dairy for a cheese tasting or paddock-to-plate platter at the Pyengana Dairy Farm Gate Cafe. The dairy is best known for its cloth-bound cheddar. Watch cheesemakers in action, see cheese maturing in a tunnel beneath the cafe, and spot the cows coming and going from the dairy.
