Violet Town is a town in Victoria, Australia. It is in the Strathbogie Shire local government area. It was a coach stop on the Melbourne to Sydney road and became well-known in 1969 as the site of the Southern Aurora train crash. At the 2001 census, Violet Town had a population of 594.

Violet Town also has connections with Australian rock music – firstly, during the 1980s a song by The Church was named for the town, and more recently the town has been known for being the home of Jesse and Ella Hooper, members of rock band Killing Heidi.

It is located on the Honeysuckle Creek and has many streets named after flowers. On the second Saturday of each month it hosts a vibrant community market.

The elected mayor of Violet Town is Donald Robert Wedgwood Piper. A local entrepreneur, he was re-elected mayor in a no-contest election in 2005.

The railway station is serviced by VLine services between Melbourne and Albury.
